How it works

Type an amount (commas and Thai digits are fine) to get it in words in both Thai and English, then press "Copy" next to the language you need.

Formula

English: split into groups of 3 digits (Thousand, Million, Billion…). No satang → "… Baht Only" · with satang → "… Baht and … Satang"

Thai: split into groups of 6 digits, each read with the place names แสน หมื่น พัน ร้อย สิบ and joined with "ล้าน" (million)

Thai tens: 1 = สิบ, 2 = ยี่สิบ · a trailing 1 = เอ็ด · no satang → "บาทถ้วน"

FAQ

How is an amount written in English on Thai invoices?

Usually in title case ending with "Baht Only" when there is no satang, e.g. 1,200 = One Thousand Two Hundred Baht Only. With satang: 1,200.50 = One Thousand Two Hundred Baht and Fifty Satang. Large numbers use the US scale (Million, Billion, Trillion).

What does "ถ้วน" mean in the Thai version?

It means "exactly" and is added when there are no satang, so nothing can be appended to the amount on a cheque or document. It is the Thai equivalent of "Only".

How are amounts with more than 2 decimals rounded?

They are rounded half-up to 2 decimals (satang). For example, 10.005 becomes Ten Baht and One Satang, and 9.999 becomes Ten Baht Only.

Is the Thai reading the same as Excel BAHTTEXT?

Yes. The Thai reading follows the same rules as the BAHTTEXT function in Excel, including "เอ็ด" for a trailing one (101 = หนึ่งร้อยเอ็ด) and repeating "ล้าน" for very large amounts.
